The over-lifesize sculpture of the highly acclaimed writer and satirist Brian O’Nolan aka Myles na gCopaleen in his iconic coat and Fedora hat by sculptor Holger C. Lonze was installed in his home town Strabane 2014. The bronze figure is resting against first editions of his most famous books - An Béal Bocht, At Swim-Two-Birds and The Dalkey Archive. The iconic book cover drawing by Sean O'Sullivan is perforated into the sheet metal and illuminated at night. The figure was fabricated in cast and repoussé bronze, using Bronze Age metalworking techniques that respond to regional archaeology, combined with contemporary TIG welding and CNC processing and LED lighting.
The work is nominated for the PMSA Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture 2015
